Science Fiction

“Rule Two” — Hidden Villains: Duos
Meet Daniel. He’s a bit at loose ends post-war, and his former lieutenant has offered him a job. Said former lieutenant’s daughter, however, has a heist in mind, and Daniel ends up involved. (Note: this story is a direct tie-in to my science fiction series, featuring characters introduced in book 2.)

When my favorite convention announced they were going to start publishing an annual charity anthology, I took the leap. The 2019 anthology was my first submission, and my first publication. JordanCon started it all. And I thought, why not create a series? I haven’t managed to submit every year, but they always seem to take me. And poor Wesley just keeps getting dropped into weirder and weirder situations.

Unfortunately, the 2019 anthology is only obtainable at the convention itself, and the other three only from Amazon as physical copies. I’ve a mind to release all four stories as a combined eBook sooner or later, perhaps as a reader magnet. Stay tuned.

“Urban Planning” — 2019 JordanCon anthology Become Legend
Wesley Dunning thought he was getting hired by the city for a project manager job. Note: project managers usually do not have to deal with eldritch runes keeping magical energy under control, nor do they typically end up solving the issue when those runes fail.
[Currently only available in the JordanCon store at-con. Whatchya doing in April?]

“Out of the Loop” — 2021 JordanCon anthology Neither Beginnings Nor Endings
Kitties are good. Time loops are bad. But sometimes you end up the first causing the second, and that’s problems.
Amazon (Paperback)

“For Whom the Bridge Trolls” — 2022 JordanCon anthology The Leaf Does No Harm
Kansas City has a truck-eating bridge. This is established, non-magical fact. Or at least Wesley thought it wasn’t magical until he met the troll.
Amazon (Paperback)

“Busman’s Holiday” — 2024 JordanCon anthology Heroes
Wesley was supposed to be on vacation. Nowhere in the brochure did they mention an entire civilization of sapient gerbil people.

“The Song” — Impulse
Sapphire’s performance was designed to embarrass one of the city’s worst nobles. It does exactly that—and sends her and her friend Kai on a run for their lives that leads to emotional confessions.
